Therapy Intensives
Intense support for intense needs
What’s An Intensive?
A short-term, highly focused therapy experience that allows you to address a significant challenge you are having in a way that is carefully structured to encourage rapid change.
Your therapist will work with you to get a sense of the issue you are facing, perform assessment, identify specific strategies that are likely to be helpful, practice those strategies with you, and offer tailored recommendation for continued treatment.
Intensives are good options when you need more support than can be typically offered in weekly therapy, have specific goals you are trying to make progress towards, and are willing to take an approach that can be more challenging in order to make more rapid progress than can be achieved in weekly sessions.
How do Intensives work?
-
Consultation Appointment- meet with Dr. Conrad for about 30 minutes to see if you are a good fit for the Intensive Structure and to answer any questions you may have
Intake Session(s)- all members planning on attending the Intensive session meet with Dr. Conrad individually for about an hour to perform some assessment activities and prepare for the Intensive session
Pre-Intensive Session Preparation- all members planning on attending the Intensive session will have some form of preparation to complete independently (outside of meeting with Dr. Conrad) between the intake session and Intensive Session
Intensive Session- all members attend a 4.5 hour session (4 hours of therapy, 30 minutes of breaks) with Dr. Conrad consisting of assessment, identification of barriers and useful strategies, and practice with implementation of strategies
Follow-up session- all members who attend the Intensive session meet with Dr. Conrad together for about an hour to address any continued concerns
Session Notes & Resources- all clients will be offered notes from sessions and resources which support continued progress towards goals after the Intensive
Individually Tailored Recommendations for Further Treatment- all clients are offered tailored recommendations for continued treatment as clinically appropriate
Scheduling additional time- scheduling additional Intensive Sessions, ongoing therapy, and/or additional follow-up sessions are possible based on clinical necessity and scheduling availability

Intensive Session (all participants present, about 4.5 hours- 4 hours of therapy, 30 minutes break)
Follow-up sessions (1 per all participants, about 60 minutes)
Outside of session activities to be completed no later than 1 week after follow-up session: session notes & resources, individually tailored recommendations for further treatment
This fee is non-refundable. Dr. Conrad is willing to reschedule each session one time but, due to the significant time investment, cannot accommodate rescheduling more than once and a new fee will be charged.
Insurance is not accepted for this service.

Intensives require active client participation. If clients do not engage with the process in the ways they are asked, the experience may be less helpful.
All clients are required to meet the following expectations:
Completion of all paperwork and assessment activities
Willingness and Ability to tolerate/cope with emotional discomfort, self-advocate, engage in honest self-reflection, and tell the truth about difficult experiences and dynamics
Arrive to scheduled session on time and prepared to engage in an intensive, focused experience
-
The Intensive Structure is flexible and can accommodate meeting at a variety of locations: online in the state of Colorado, our Loveland office, and/or our Denver Tech Center Office.
Meeting at a client’s home may also be a possibility.
The Intensive Structure is designed to be completed in a short period of time, usually within a week or two depending on scheduling availability, Intensive Topic and clinical complexity.
